I be a music nut, basically I'm the guy who knows about the next best band about a year before everyone else. Mainly because I spend a lot of time scouring the net and yeah . . . I can't reveal my sources ;)

Anyway, I see it as my goal in life to help people find good music they like. This ties in with me being a sound guy as well, but that's a story for another day when the Might Boosh isn't on in ten minutes time.

So, I guess I'll start with homegrown bands. I hail from New Zealand, and we have a lot of REALLY great music down here that no one else hears about. Here's a few:

Brooke Fraser - Ok so, if you want to hear the most amazing voice + the most amazing lyrics + the most awesome compositions, this is it. She's the cream of the singer/songwriter crop today. She's just about to break into the US, so keep an eye out for her. Here's her Myspace - http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... D=13771931

Opshop - Good rock/grunge, lovely mixture of hard and fast and the soft epics. Definitely one of my tops. Myspace again - http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... D=22022170

Evermore - Kind of the New Zealand Coldplay, umm but with their own twist to be sure. Smooth sound. Myspace - http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... ID=5095280

Mutemath - Actually an American band, but . . let's put it this way, this band does everything, their live shows ARE the best in the world. Their music is heavily experimental BUT it doesn't sound weird, in fact for all the muckamucks complaining about the, their music is more radio friendly than most stuff I hear. If you never listen to any other band I recommend, listen to these guys. Myspace - http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... ID=3204454

Just a note, this is a very small cross section of my musical taste. I listen to pretty much everything except for Country. So here's the deal, list me your five favourite bands, and I bet I can find something you'll like.

Ok, first off, a band called the Almost, same story as Foo Fighters, drummer from amazing band (Underoath) makes his own band with his own songs and it turns out even better (Yes, the Foos are better than Nirvana;) ) Songs too look out for are: Southern Weather, and I Mostly Copy Other People, but his whole first album entitled Southern Weather is wonderful really. Myspace - http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... D=31363280"

Secondly, Thousand Foot Krutch. Alternative rock at it's best. Nice and loud, but with all the little crannies filled with some good ballad types. Check out Bounce, Hurt, Art of Breaking, What Do We Know. - http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... ID=4839882"

Lastly for tonight, because I need sleep. Dead Poetic, I won't go into the whole "Are they emocore or screamo" argument, because with music and lyrics this good. It just doesn't matter. Check out The Dream Club Murders, Glass in the Trees, Molotov, Arlington Eyes, and Modern Morbid Prophecies. - http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... ID=1059267"

If you don't like any of those, then I'm sorry :p Even I get it wrong sometimes. But I always have more up my sleeve.

And I'll get to you tomorrow Bagel.

I'm actually the same as the OP, in that I can usually find something for everyone. Of course, I get bored with my music fairly quickly, so I'm gonna throw my hat in the ring, pick it back up, and pull a rabbit out.

1. Meshuggah
2. Isis
3. Dredg
4. Zero 7
5. Sleepytime Gorilla Museum

The fun part will be seeing if there's anything you can recommend that I don't already have.

1. Job For A Cowboy
2. Dethklok
3. Winds of Plague
4. All That Remains
5. Eversfield...this one will probably be hard to find ;)
